Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari
Penneshaw, South Australia
A family-owned business run by Tony Coppins, an Aboriginal man whose family originate from Barkindji country on the Barka, and Sandy Hammat, born and raised on Kangaroo Island. From Christmas Cove Marina at Penneshaw they run in-water swims with wild dolphins and seals off the 28-seat 'Sea Dragon', plus 75-minute coastal safaris aboard the 38-seat 'Force of Nature' for seals, sea eagles and, from May to October, passing whales. The operation has drawn more than a dozen awards, including induction into the South Australian Tourism Hall of Fame.
