Day Walk
Lord Howe Environmental Tours
Lord Howe Island, New South Wales
The Story
A three-generation family business working the World Heritage island since 1998, where Dean, once the island board ranger for sixteen years, and his daughter Kayla guide the boat and mountain trips while Roslyn keeps the rest on an even keel. The signature outing is the roughly nine-hour Mt Gower trek to the 875-metre summit, one of the great day walks in the country. Off the water there are glass-bottom coral-viewing trips and snorkelling excursions over the lagoon's reef, with kayak and snorkel gear for hire. ECO Certified and built on low-impact, learn-as-you-go guiding.
