Where the Buchan River meets the Snowy, deep gorges open into country few travellers reach except by raft. Wieland Adventures runs multi-day wilderness journeys down the Snowy River — camping on remote river beaches inside Snowy River National Park — alongside day trips on the Mitta Mitta and guided fishing and horseback outings through the same East Gippsland high country. The operation is led by Jayd Wieland, an outdoor educator who has guided and taught outdoor subjects for twenty-five years and holds a degree in outdoor education, working alongside co-guide Jane Forke. The signature seven-day descent threads inaccessible river gorges and rapids few boats run, with wildlife spotting and remote camping built into each day. Trips are scheduled around river flow rather than a fixed calendar, with water levels confirmed before each departure. Based at Gelantipy, on the Buchan side of the Snowy River valley, this is a small operation for travellers wanting genuine wilderness immersion rather than a packaged rafting session.
